I have just retired from full time teaching in a variety of state and grammar schools, having taught for over 20 years. I have two grown up children both having attended grammar schools in Kent, with my eldest daughter an engineer in South Africa now. I love long walks with my dog by the sea and play high level tennis.

I have taught for over 20 years at A Level and GCSE in Economics, Business and Finance courses. I have examined for Edexcel for all these courses. Before teaching I worked as an interest rate trader in London for a foreign bank, and have also been a director of my own company.

I like to make sure students have strong basics, by using mnemonics and clear explanations. I then add application, which is vital in Economics and Business, by relating questions to real life examples. Finally, I like to encourage debate/ discussion of these examples to help with evaluation, by looking at all potential sides of an answer.

I like to teach online on Teams, using powerpoint presentations, and take in marking from students on this, giving detailed comments on how to improve.
