I like to use the app Notability for my lessons (also for my own studies!) it is, in my opinion, the best for STEM subjects. I like to alternate my lessons between a theoretical side and a practical side: the theoretical side involves lessons being a lot more akin to university lectures or supervisions where I explain concepts and provide demonstrations with direct response to my students questions. The practical side focusses more on training my students to apply what they have learnt, and involves them taking the lead on practice questions I have prepared and me giving advice as we go along.
My lessons are done remotely, they take inspiration from how content was taught to me at Cambridge, and I provide homework tasks that allow me to gauge how well the student has absorbed and applied the knowledge. My goal is to get students to understand the subject, not just regurgitate small bits and pieces. I personally find that fully understanding a concept allows for better links and general thinking to develop and ultimately ensures an efficient and strong undertaking of new learning.
I have recently graduated from Cambridge, where I studied Chemistry, Material Science, Computer Science but specialised in Maths and Physics. I am now continuing my studies at Queen Mary University of London, so my knowledge is fresh in my brain! I have taught people of varying backgrounds and abilities but most importantly I am fast to adapt and quick to notice the best way to teach for different styles of thinking.
