Every child learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to meet their individual needs and learning style. Before we begin tutoring, I identify strengths, gaps in understanding and personal goals to create a bespoke learning plan.
As a qualified Primary Teacher with over 10 years of experience, a Maths Lead and NCETM Mastery Specialist, I specialise in teaching mathematics using the mastery approach. Lessons are carefully structured into small, manageable steps to ensure children develop a deep understanding rather than simply memorising methods. My aim is to build confidence alongside achievement, helping pupils feel comfortable asking questions and developing resilience when tackling challenging problems.
Lessons are engaging, interactive and designed to make maths enjoyable. I use a range of practical resources, visual representations and real-life examples to help children understand concepts clearly. Regular retrieval practice and problem-solving activities ensure knowledge is retained and applied confidently.
I support pupils who need to catch up, prepare for KS2 SATs, improve reasoning skills, gain confidence or stretch themselves beyond age-related expectations. Parents receive regular feedback on progress along with practical ideas to support learning between sessions.
Above all, I strive to create a calm, positive and encouraging environment where every child feels valued, supported and capable of succeeding. My goal is not only to improve attainment but also to develop independent learners who enjoy mathematics and believe in their own ability.
