Samar Rawlinson

Olá! I'm Samar, a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker, born and raised in Rio de Janeiro.

I teach the Portuguese Brazilians actually speak: everyday phrases, slang, tone of voice and even body language, the things textbooks and apps skip. Lessons are live, one-to-one and online, and every lesson is built around you: your level, your goals and your pace.

Whether you're learning for a Brazilian partner or family, a trip to Brazil, a move or work, we start speaking from the very first lesson. Complete beginners are very welcome. If you prefer grammar first, we can do that too.

What a lesson looks like:
- 50 minutes on Google Meet
- lots of speaking, with real situations from Rio (the bakery, the bar, the market, family dinners)
- materials and homework sheets included
- times that work for the UK, the USA and Australia

About me: I learnt English myself at a language school in Australia, then spent over two years teaching English to children in schools and online, in Asia and South America. My husband is British, and I've spent a lot of time in the UK, so I know exactly where English speakers get stuck with Portuguese, and how to make new phrases stick.

I'm patient, energetic and I love a good laugh in class. My students learn real Portuguese with real emotion, not translator Portuguese.
