I have been working as a private Tutor for the last four months, previously having worked with younger people through my voluntary roles in education. Currently, I am qualified with a degree in English Literature and French from the University of Edinburgh, and proficient to tutor in GCSE English Literature, History and French, having further education qualifications in these.
The manner in which my lessons will be delivered is interactive, with critical thinking exercises, discussions of opinion and revision, all of which being done so the student will not only remember the content and be able to apply it, but will be genuinely interested in it. As time goes on, I also plan on tailoring the way in which these lessons progress to the way the student learns best, changing which exercises and activities we do most often to suit them.
In my experience both as an educator and in education, the key to learning is communication. This is true both for the content, but also in how we feel about what we are learning, which is a crucial part of my teaching philosophy, and therefore a working relationship with a student, and cognitively thinking about how we retain information is crucial.
Depending on location, these lessons can be delivered virtually or in person, and each lesson will have an accompanying presentation which comes with it, as well as prepared activities to do both independently and together. The content of these presentations will not only be fun, but also challenging and rewarding when completed.
