Hello!
I’m sixteen years old (in less than 2 weeks) and looking to do tutoring over the summer (and into next year) in Maths, Biology & Chemistry.
Prospective students would ideally be (currently) in Year 9-10, so I can assist them through the GCSE course as I’m incredibly well versed in the syllabus (although there are differences between exam boards, they are minor).

For GCSEs, I took Maths (Higher), Triple Science, Lit & Lang, French, Spanish, Drama & Classical Civilisation. Although I don’t yet have my grades back, I have been predicted all 9s and an 8 in English Literature. At my current school (top 50 in terms of GCSE results in the country) I have one academic scholarship, an award for academic excellence (“Principal’s Award”) and received a prize for academic endeavour last year.

As a tutor, although I’ve never formally done tuition, I have assisted other students in my year in their GCSE preparations, and I’ve been frequently told that I am an engaging, patient and passionate teacher, and this is the primary reason that I’ve decided to try my hand at tutoring. Furthermore, my maths teacher recommended that I tried tutoring as a method of deepening my knowledge of the subject matter.

I would propose spending the first half of the lesson going through the content and explaining the topic, then I would spend the next quarter helping the student by helping them practice what they learned, and the final quarter going through any tricky questions from the homework that I would have set them, or homework from school. Homework would consist of practice questions which I would mark in advance of the lesson in order to maximise lesson time.
