I am an experienced Maths teacher and tutor with extensive experience teaching students across KS3, GCSE and A Level. I currently teach Mathematics in further education and have particular experience supporting GCSE students, including learners who are resitting Maths and working towards achieving or improving their grade.
My lessons are friendly, structured and focused on the individual student. I start by identifying areas of strength and topics that need improvement, then tailor lessons accordingly. I explain mathematical ideas clearly and break more difficult topics into manageable steps before giving students the opportunity to practise independently.
I place a strong emphasis on understanding rather than simply memorising methods. I use carefully chosen examples, questioning and exam-style practice to check understanding and identify misconceptions as they arise. For GCSE students, I can work systematically through the curriculum, target weaker areas and help students become more confident when tackling unfamiliar questions.
I am equally comfortable supporting students who find Maths difficult and need patient, step-by-step explanations, as well as higher-attaining students aiming for the top grades. I also teach A Level Mathematics and can support students making the transition from GCSE to more advanced mathematical study.
Above all, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My aim is for students to leave each lesson understanding more, feeling more confident and knowing exactly what they need to work on next.
