I like to offer my first lesson for free, as I tend to use that time to get to know my student. I usually ask them what particular topics they struggle in and what topics they excel in. from there I then try different teaching methods (e.g., teaching the teacher, memory games, quizzes/exam style questions, etc) and see which are most effective. Once I then use the information gathered in our first session to organise lesson plans and create a structure for the student that is easy to follow. During our second session, I tend to create a small test in order to assess the student's initial ability. I then create tests every two weeks or so, in order to track the student's progress, and just to ensure previous lessons have been productive and effective. not only does this allow me to track progress, but also allows me to understand whether the lessons I have prepared are tailored correctly to the student's needs.
I have several years of experience tutoring and enjoy it a lot. I like to create an enjoyable environment, as I have found that students tend to be more engaged when they are having fun. I hope to see you soon as I can't wait to meet you
