My lessons are designed to be engaging, highly structured, and completely tailored to your individual musical goals. Whether you are a complete beginner picking up the piano for the first time, an adult returning to the keys, or a student preparing for advanced ABRSM or Trinity examinations, we will build a clear progression pathway together.

A typical 60-minute lesson is split into three dynamic parts to keep learning active and fresh:

We will normally start by discussing any music you've composed or practice work you have done since our last lesson. I will offer expert advice to you instantly with the aim of guiding you further.

The main portion of the session will be spent appraising your pieces, looking at your strengths and areas for exploration. We'll aim to build technical fluency and more than anything encourage your artistic voice to develop. For example, we might be using highly regarded, structured method books like Faber Piano Adventures alongside contemporary or classical pieces you want to learn. We break down notation step-by-step so you never feel overwhelmed.

We dedicate the final portion of the lesson to music theory, sight-reading, or foundational composition. This ensures you aren't just memorising keys, but truly learning how to read, understand, and speak the language of music. For example, if we are working on improving your sight-reading then I will guide you through the different pitches on the keyboard to reinforce knowledge and understanding, building this more each lesson.

My teaching style relies heavily on positive reinforcement, patience, and clear communication. You will leave every single lesson with a structured, bite-sized practice plan for the week ahead so you always know exactly how to make measurable progress at home. Music-making should be an inspiring, rewarding experience, and I am here to give you the exact tools and confidence you need to succeed!
