I am bi-lingual and grew up speaking English and another language. I realise how difficult learning languages can be.
It’s a known fact throughout the world, English is a very difficult language to learn. One sentence spoken in different tones could have a number of different meanings.
Intention, tone etc can be very confusing as it is not straightforward. Also, the way we write in English far differs from how we speak to one another.
I find learning about everyday objects a good way to start learning English. What we call things, what we use everyday, and moving onto stringing sentences together and writing. Intention is a great lesson as English is hard to understand due to issues such as tone of voice and the structuring of a written and spoken sentence. All of which, can be confusing to someone who has a first language that is not English.
I currently tutor English GCSE students on English language and literature - I am happy to create mock exams to see where a student is regarding ability.
I will work at a pace the student requires. If we have to go back and relearn certain areas I am happy to do this as long as my students leave with a greater ability reading, writing and speaking the English Language,
