My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, whether that is preparing for GCSE or A-Level exams, improving grammar, or gaining confidence in spoken French. A typical session with me combines clear explanations of key grammar points, guided practice exercises, and opportunities to apply knowledge through exam-style questions or conversation practice.
For GCSE and A-Level students, I focus on exam preparation by working through past papers, analysing common mistakes, and developing strategies for writing and comprehension tasks. For spoken French, I use role-play and interactive dialogue to help students feel comfortable using the language in real-life situations.
I have been tutoring for over three years, alongside my degree in Classics and French at the University of Oxford. Many of my students began with low confidence and had previously struggled to meet their target grades, but through patient guidance and structured support, they not only improved academically but also started to enjoy learning the language more.
My lessons are interactive and collaborative: I encourage students to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn actively. I believe that progress comes from building both knowledge and confidence, so I always aim to create a welcoming and encouraging environment where students feel supported and motivated. I also adapt my approach for each learner, whether they prefer visual explanations, written drills, spoken practice, or a combination of methods. By the end of each session, students leave with a clearer understanding of the topic, practical strategies they can apply, and a growing confidence in their ability to succeed in French.
