My lessons are student centred. I get to know the student's needs and their desired outcome in their use of English. I design my lessons to improve their overall vocabulary, pronunciation, understanding of grammar in context and functional use of English in different situations. For example: Can they give someone their basic details in English.? Can they ask questions? Can they undertake a conversation by telephone - check in to a hotel; ask for directions; disagree or agree; make suggestions; describe their environment; fill out a form; write a business email; write a recommendation....

I use video, audio, games and functional speaking exercises to reconfirm and practise their understanding of the language they learn. For example, they can read about a topic and understand it but can they talk about it? I model the language as a native speaker and teach natural pronunciation.

My resources are from OUP and also professionally developed materials to give the student the best chance to improve their practical use of English.
