I have a bachelors degree in Psychology, a TEFL certificate, and an RBT credential (instruction methods for learners with ADHD, Aspergers, or Autism). I speak 3.5 languages (English, Deutsch, Svenska, Español) and am well spoken in a number of topics including Politics, World Affairs, and Technology. I offer a student directed teaching approach that allows the student to choose which areas they would like to focus on and I am particularly inclined to instruct grammar and discuss etymology in ways that are practical and facilitate understanding.
Lesson options are as follows:
- Formal lesson: The student selects a topic or area of discussion (past progressive, things to do in Atlanta, how to order food)
- Conversation Practice: Verbal or written dialogue with live correction and optional transcript
- Review: Overview of or assistance with English assignments from other courses or personal documents
Other services:
- Spelling and grammar correction with annotation (written explanations for each change) in Google Docs, recitation also available
- Walking tours of U.S cities and landmarks including New York City (new!)
What sets my lessons apart:
- Detailed follow ups for any unanswered questions
- Extensive use of props and etymological connections to other languages
- Experience with a variety of ages and learning styles allowing for rapid adaptation
- Timely and culturally relevant vocabulary and assignments
