I have taught English in Asia for 17 years to a wide variety of children from Primary to Secondary schools. For Nursery age pupils, I usually aim to help them be exposed to the English language and build up confidence for them to use it.That level requires patience and repetition.

In lower primary, I train pupils to work out the sounds of the letters and help them decode into words and discuss what they are reading with me. I would love it if children can at least get more out of reading.

In upper primary, I tend to focus more on the grammar so that every one of my pupils can write full sentences with as near perfect grammar as possible.

In secondary, I usually help pupils focus on their writing and language art appreciation.

Overall, I mainly conduct a few examples first, and guide the pupils in working out the uses of the English language.

In the science subject, I can be more of service to secondary pupils looking to find more explanation, breaking down of the topics and how to answer Gcse style questions. My background is engineering and worked as a mechanical engineer for five years before transitioning to English teaching. My teaching career has come to a full circle as I am now teaching science at the secondary level.
