Robert Dimbleby

I am a patient and enthusiastic teacher and I enjoy working with students of all abilities. During lessons I use lots of exam-style questions, as the best way to learn maths is through practise. When tutoring a specific mathematical topic, I break down the theory involved into manageable chunks to ensure the student fully understands the proofs and concepts underlying the topic, before tackling a variety of different questions of increasing difficulty. I use a step-by-step approach to problem solving so that the student will have a method they can apply in every situation.

I studied Mathematics at Worcester College, Oxford, where I received an academic scholarship early on for achieving high grades. Since graduating I have worked as a full time maths teacher at an independent boarding school teaching GCSE and A level maths and further maths, as well as weekly 1-1 intervention tutoring ranging from GCSE maths to year 13 further maths. I have helped high-achieving students reach Oxford/Cambridge and other top universities by offering tuition in MAT, STEP, and other admissions tests, as well as personal statement writing.

As someone with a huge love for mathematics in and of itself, my main goal with tutoring is to spread this joy and curiosity by helping students to see the patterns that link together all of mathematics. I firmly believe that the deeper you go with your understanding, the clearer the whole picture becomes, which I why I always encourage students to ask questions, be curious, and help to nurture their mathematical intuition and confidence.
