Every lesson is tailored to the individual student's needs, whether they're looking to build confidence, strengthen their understanding of a particular topic, or achieve the highest grades in GCSE and A Level Maths or Further Mathematics. Before lessons, I'll discuss the student's goals and identify any areas they find challenging so we can make the best use of our time together.
My lessons begin with a clear explanation of any new concepts, ensuring the student understands the reasoning behind each method rather than simply memorising steps. We then spend the majority of the lesson working through carefully selected questions together, as I believe mathematics is best learned through practice. This allows me to identify misconceptions as they arise, develop problem-solving skills and reinforce effective exam technique.
At the start of each lesson, we'll briefly revisit previous topics and discuss any independent practice completed since the last session. Where appropriate, I'll recommend additional questions for students to attempt between lessons, helping them consolidate their learning and become more confident working independently.
Alongside school peer tutoring programmes, I have supported several students through one-to-one tuition and informal tutoring, receiving consistently positive feedback for my patient approach and clear explanations. As a Mathematics and Statistics undergraduate at the University of Warwick, I understand both the academic content and the challenges students face. My goal is not simply to help students answer the questions we cover together, but to give them the confidence and understanding to tackle unfamiliar problems independently.
Whether you're aiming to improve your confidence, achieve a top grade, or simply enjoy mathematics a little more, I'd be delighted to help you reach your goals!
