My lessons are friendly, structured and tailored to each student's individual goals, level and learning style. I believe that learning Japanese should be both enjoyable and rewarding, so I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their confidence at their own pace.

Each lesson combines speaking, listening, reading, grammar and vocabulary as appropriate, with plenty of opportunities to practise Japanese in meaningful contexts. I adapt the pace and materials to suit each student, whether you are a complete beginner, an intermediate learner or preparing for an examination. Lessons can also include conversation practice and practical Japanese for everyday situations, depending on your interests and goals.

For GCSE students, I provide focused preparation for reading, writing, listening and speaking, including exam techniques, past-paper practice and targeted feedback. For JLPT students (N5–N3), lessons are structured around the vocabulary, kanji, grammar, reading and listening skills needed for the exam. I can help you identify areas that need improvement and develop effective study strategies so that you can prepare for your exam with greater confidence.

I use a variety of materials and activities to keep lessons engaging and purposeful. Where appropriate, I also introduce natural expressions and aspects of Japanese culture, helping students understand not only how the language works but also how it is used in real-life situations.

With over 16 years of teaching experience in the UK, including 10 years in secondary schools and 4.5 years at university language centres, I understand that every learner is different. My aim is to help you build confidence, make steady progress and enjoy using Japanese in both exams and real-life situations.
