I usually employ the 'Golden Chain' approach to teaching which employs a variety of methods within the following structure: -

Re-cap of previous topic if required
Introduce new topic and state the aim of the session if necessary
Formal Presentation using both text-based and visual information
Interactive period for exercises, questions and discussion
Closing summary, if required set homework

Repeat the above cycle again if time permits.

Information sources will include both standard texts and the electronic media
