Having received an A* in A Level Psychology, I am well versed in a range of psychological topics. This has allowed me to grasp the fundamental principles and concepts which newer theories may build upon. My passion for psychology led me to further pursue this at degree level, which I am currently doing at the University of Warwick, and have received a first in my first year.
I have tutoring experience at my secondary school, where I volunteered to tutor GCSE mathematics to students on a weekly basis. This involved identifying topics the student struggled with, providing them with resources to help them better grasp the subject, and preparing exam questions for us to go through together.
I have experience of working with children, young people, and their families through my position as a karate instructor. Upon achieving my black belt and diploma in martial arts, I trained as a cadet instructor, and this enabled me to teach at my local karate club. I taught both adults and children. Ahead of the sessions I would be made aware from my Sensei, of children with social difficulties so that I could tailor my sessions. This experience taught me how to interact with those that needed additional support and how I could ensure that I created an inclusive environment for everyone.
My lessons would be interactive and engaging, and tailored to the needs of the student. They would begin with finding topics of difficulty to go through together, and would finish with exam questions to check knowledge and understanding.
