It is important to start off by assessing a learners current level and ability. It is also important to understand what the learners priorities are as well as the timeframe they would like to achieve a particular goal they have in mind. It is a given that learners want to improve their English. However, some wish to focus more on writing while others wish to focus more on speaking.

Practice makes perfect. My approach is to design sessions around discussing things that are of interest to the learner. I believe doing so allows for a deeper level of engagement and the dual purpose of developing one's English as well as deepening understanding about the topic or subject in question.

Through discussing topics of interest with the learner it will be possible to highlight areas that they need to focus in order for me to devise methods for improvement.
