Rhiannon Pratt

I am an approachable, empathetic and supportive tutor with a First Class degree in Geography and a Master's degree with Distinction. My background also includes research, mentoring, active listening and supporting people from a wide range of backgrounds.

My lessons are aimed at students who want to build their confidence, strengthen their understanding of Geography and develop more effective ways of learning. I particularly enjoy helping students who feel overwhelmed, lack confidence in their abilities or need support breaking complex topics into manageable steps.

I aim to create a relaxed, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their understanding at their own pace.

I take a supportive, student-centred approach. I begin by understanding the student's current knowledge, goals and areas of difficulty, then adapt lessons to their individual needs. I break complex topics into manageable steps, use clear explanations and encourage students to ask questions and think critically rather than simply memorising information. I aim to build both subject knowledge and confidence, using regular feedback and progress checks to identify what is working and where further support is needed.

I have a First Class BA in Geography and a Master's degree with Distinction, alongside extensive experience in research, analysis and communicating complex information clearly. My professional background has involved understanding people's experiences, needs and barriers, conducting research and translating complex information into accessible and engaging explanations.

I also have experience mentoring and supporting others, providing guidance and constructive feedback to help build confidence and develop skills. My previous experience as a helpline advisor developed my active listening, empathy and ability to adapt my communication style to different individuals and needs.

I am particularly skilled at breaking complex ideas down into manageable parts, identifying where someone may be struggling and finding practical ways to support their progress.
