I create lessons based on the work students have already completed and build upon the foundation they already have. I choose to use resources the students already have access to, and use their own workbooks/textbooks to ensure questions are tailored to them.

My teaching approach is centred around understanding each student’s individual learning style. I believe that progress comes from confidence, so I aim to make every student feel capable and supported throughout each session. I spend time identifying areas where they may be struggling and adapt my teaching methods accordingly—whether that’s breaking down complex topics into manageable steps, offering guided practice, or encouraging independent thinking through open-ended questions.

I ensure to prioritise active engagement and understanding over memorisation, and I encourage students to explain their reasoning, discuss alternative solutions, and reflect on their learning process. This helps them develop not only subject knowledge but also critical thinking skills that are valuable across all areas of study - carrying through to further education.

In addition to academic progress, I focus on building motivation and a positive mindset in my students toward learning. Many feel overwhelmed or anxious about certain topics, so I communicate with them about their needs and create a calm, encouraging environment where they feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.

Ultimately, my goal as a tutor is to help students feel confident, independent, and proud of their achievements. Every student learns differently, and I see tutoring as an opportunity to personalise education in a way that truly works for them.
