About me

My lessons are focused. I want students to actually enjoy the session, not feel like they're just extending the school day. I work with primary school pupils across all subjects, and I also teach History up to A Level and English up to GCSE, so I'm used to adapting pretty significantly depending on who I'm working with.

My lessons are focused. I want students to actually enjoy the session, not feel like they're just extending the school day. I work with primary school pupils across all subjects, and I also teach History up to A Level and English up to GCSE, so I'm used to adapting pretty significantly depending on who I'm working with.

For younger students, I keep things interactive and try to follow their lead a bit. If something isn't clicking, we'll come at it from a different angle, whether that's using visuals, working through examples together, or just having a conversation about it. I have experience as a nanny for 2 years with children aged 5 and 9, which helps with younger ages. I don't believe in just repeating the same explanation louder. Primary age especially, it's really important that kids feel confident and safe to get things wrong, so I put a lot of effort into making sessions feel low pressure.

For GCSE English, I focus a lot on the skills that actually move grades. How to structure an argument, how to analyse language properly rather than just saying what happens, and how to write under timed conditions without panicking. With a Publishing Studies degree, the classic books are the most enjoyable.

History at A Level is honestly one of my favourite things to teach, as a History graduate. It's about building a real argument, weighing up sources critically, and understanding why historians disagree. I love getting into the ideas with students and helping them develop their own voice in their writing.

Sessions are usually an hour, though I'm flexible. I always check in at the start about what's been happening at school so we're working on what's actually needed, not just a generic plan.
