I like to teach in ways that optimise how a student learns. If you are a visual learner, I teach using images, if you are a vocal learning I teach through conversation, etc. I don't aim for just memory but full understanding and comprehension of a topic. My lessons tend to last 45 mins-1 hour, with time to go through practise questions, review previous weeks work and to move onto a novel topic. I go at a pace that allows students to fully comprehend and learn the topic in question, rather than rushing to cover as much as possible. I like to set out practise work to be completed for the next lesson. I don't critique harshly if something is forgotten, but rather go through a topic thoroughly so that my students are confident in their ability to express and show their knowledge. As a team, I help my students to obtain the best knowledge on a topic in a way they are most comfortable and confident, allowing them to tackle any exams/classes that are proving difficult.
