I work in a calm, relational and person-centred way, placing the therapeutic relationship at the centre of the counselling process. My priority is to create a safe, consistent and non-judgemental space where clients feel heard, respected and able to explore their experiences at their own pace. I am mindful that trust develops over time, and I allow sessions to unfold without pressure or agenda.
In sessions, I use active listening, empathy and reflection to help clients feel understood and to deepen their awareness of thoughts, emotions and patterns of behaviour. I value silence and pacing, allowing space for clients to reflect rather than rushing to fill gaps. Where appropriate, I offer gentle challenge to support insight and growth, always guided by the client’s readiness and emotional safety.
I am particularly attentive to emotional regulation and containment when working with individuals experiencing mood disorders, depression, post-natal mental health difficulties, loss or distress related to online bullying. I aim to remain grounded and emotionally available, helping clients to feel steadier while exploring difficult material. I work ethically and within clear professional boundaries, with an awareness of safeguarding, risk and the limits of my role, and I am confident in signposting or referring on when additional support is required.
Overall, my counselling approach is collaborative and respectful, supporting clients to develop understanding, self-compassion and greater confidence in managing their lives beyond the therapy space.
