I am currently an A-level Geography teacher and personal tutor at a private sixth form college in Birmingham, with over two and a half years of experience. My lessons focus on building confidence in both subject knowledge and exam technique.
I specialise in OCR A-level Geography, delivering lessons that are carefully tailored to each student’s needs. Teaching in a private school environment, I work with very small class sizes, typically between one and four students. This has shaped a personal, discussion-based teaching style where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and developing a deeper understanding of the subject. This approach allows me to accurately assess each student’s understanding and provide the right level of challenge to help them progress.
A typical lesson begins with clear, structured content supported by lesson slides and short activities such as active recall tasks. This prepares students for the second half of the lesson, which focuses on exam-style questions. I support students in planning their responses through guided scaffolding and collaborative discussion, before providing live feedback based on OCR mark schemes and effective exam technique.
I have strong and up-to-date knowledge of OCR A-level Geography mark schemes. I regularly create and mark weekly timed assessments using OCR past paper questions, which has given me extensive experience in understanding how marks are awarded. I use this knowledge to help students refine their exam technique, improve application of knowledge, and write higher-level responses with confidence.
