I am someone who really enjoys talking to people about anything but especially Psychology and being able to share my knowledge of Psychology with other people to hopefully make them love Psychology as well. I like to make lessons interactive where the students don’t get bored of the large amounts of text on a slide but instead enjoy the lessons and deepen their knowledge through interactive activities. I understand that the numerous names and dates are not easy to remember in Psychology and especially in Higher but being able to teach it in the right way where the students remember it in the long term is one of my skills. In university, I have joined a programme in which I study counselling and in this I believe I have immensely enhanced my teaching skills as well as my patience, congruence and my active listening skills. Now, I not only
listen to people but I also ensure that I understand their point of view fully before making any comments or giving my opinions and views. This would help me a lot in when students approach me with their problems, questions or difficulties in learning the course because I would be able to offer help in a way that is best suited for the student as well as changing and adjusting the layout of the lessons based on the student’s pace allowing the student to feel heard and not rushed and participate in the lesson to the best of their abilities as well.
