My lessons are structured, supportive, and focused on building both understanding and confidence. I tutor mainly GCSE Maths and Sciences, and I tailor each session to the student rather than forcing everyone through the same explanation at the same pace.
Before each lesson, I ask students what topic they want to focus on so I can prepare explanations and questions that match their needs. During the lesson, we start by breaking the concept down clearly and logically, making sure the foundations are solid before moving on. I explain ideas step by step, using different approaches if something doesn’t click the first time, and I adjust the depth depending on the student - some need reassurance and clarity, others benefit from pushing further. I keep lessons structured, but I’m also conversational where it helps students feel comfortable asking questions.
Every session finishes with exam-style practice, because understanding alone isn’t enough at GCSE level. I help students apply what they’ve learned, improve exam technique, and avoid common mistakes, and there’s always time at the end for any extra questions or areas they feel unsure about.
I’m currently a peer mentor and have been helping classmates since Year 9, so I understand the pressures students face in lessons and exams. Having achieved strong GCSE results myself ( ), I know what GCSE examiners are looking for and how to prepare effectively.
I work best with anxious students and those who are struggling but genuinely want to improve. I am also able to help stronger students excel and gain confidence. I strongly believe confidence is key in academics - when students feel confident enough to ask questions and make mistakes, they learn more and perform better. My aim is not just to help students get better grades, but to help them believe they can.
