Lessons are delivered utilising SMART goals.

Specific: Improve the student’s language analysis skills
— Within 6 weeks, the student will consistently identify and analyse at least three language techniques per paragraph using correct terminology in Paper 1 and Paper 2 questions.

Measurable: Improve exam paragraph structure
— By the end of 10 lessons, the student will write PEE/PEEZ-style paragraphs that consistently meet Level 3 or above on the GCSE mark scheme.

Achieveable: Increase confidence with exam questions
— Within one term, the student will complete full exam questions independently within the time limit, showing clear planning and reduced hesitation.

Realistic: Improve creative writing
—After 8 weeks, the student will produce creative writing responses that include varied vocabulary, sentence structures, and clear paragraphing, achieving at least one higher band than their starting level.

Time constrained: Raise overall GCSE English Language grade
— Over 3–4 months, the student will improve their working grade by at least one full grade, measured through marked exam-style practice using official mark schemes.
