I also make sure to address math anxiety and try to find ways of tackling it. Before the student learns math he must learn to appreciate it. I make sure they don’t just follow the textbook because textbooks are boring.
I know this because I was once young and struggling with Math, I got this one teacher towards my final year of school and she made me appreciate math, I will never forget her, Miss Tasnim, after taking classes with her I was able to receive a 97% in My mathematics GED and an A in Further maths during my accelerated A level course.

I will make sure that the student shares their thoughts and opinions on everything we study, I will expect a presentation on the topics, not just solving which is what most Maths courses do, it would motivate the student more if they understand the history of math and why we do arithmetic in the way we do now, and how Mathematics has affected Humanity.
