I've been teaching since 2008, with over 15 years of experience helping students across South Africa and Zimbabwe succeed in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Chemistry. I currently teach at a Cambridge-curriculum tutoring centre in Cape Town, covering Physics up to A Level, Mathematics up to GCSE and O Level, Computer Science up to A Level, and Chemistry up to GCSE and O Level.
My teaching style focuses on genuine understanding rather than memorisation. I break concepts down into clear, logical steps so students see why something works, not just how to apply it — this builds real confidence rather than guesswork.
A typical lesson starts with a quick check of what the student already knows, moves into explaining the core concept with clear examples and diagrams, then into practice questions of increasing difficulty. I place strong emphasis on past exam papers, so students get comfortable with how questions are actually asked and marked. We always review mistakes together, since they usually reveal exactly where the gaps are.
I adapt my approach to each student — some need more structure and repetition, others benefit from being pushed with harder, exam-style problems. I keep close attention on exam board requirements so lessons stay relevant to what's actually being tested.
Beyond the technical side, I aim to keep lessons encouraging and low-pressure, especially for students who've struggled or feel anxious about a subject. My goal is to help students build lasting understanding and genuine confidence — not just pass an exam.
