About me

1. share a short text from a book, practice comprehension and reading, then ask the student to summarise what they read and ask simple questions. E.g. "what happened first?" "why did the character feel that way?"

2. use tools such as google docs, zoom whiteboard, or quiz apps. Practice quick exercise with spelling and grammar, give the student a few words to spell out and check answers live.

3. I'd give them something to write and give immediate feedback on spelling, punctuation and sentence structures. encourage them to edit their own work after my guidance.

5. Using online resources such as BBC Bitesize KS2 English SATs and practice reading and grammar questions. Using Twinkl worksheets, interactive PDFs or Google Slides. Kahoot or Quizlet, for spelling and grammar games.

6. Making it interactive. asking questions instead of just explaining rules. Use polls, quizzes, or drawing exercise to keep them engaged. celebrate correct answers to build confidence.

lastly preparing for SATs, we'd look at some past papers and practice which helps a lot during exams.

I'd help my little sister study for English and she caught on quite quickly with the way I've been teaching her. Now she doesn't find it difficult in lessons and understands the work given to her.
