As a math tutor, I take pride in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment for my students. My lessons are designed to be both interactive and tailored to each individual’s needs. I typically start by assessing the student’s understanding of the topic and any areas where they may be struggling. From there, I break down complex concepts into simpler, digestible parts, ensuring that the foundation is solid before moving on to more challenging material.
I incorporate a variety of teaching methods depending on the student’s learning style. For example, I use visual aids, real-life examples, and hands-on problem-solving techniques to make abstract concepts more accessible. I also encourage active participation, guiding students through problems step by step while allowing them to take the lead in solving similar problems on their own. This helps build confidence and reinforces the skills learned.
Each lesson is structured to cover the material in a logical progression. I begin with a brief review of the previous lesson to ensure continuity, followed by introducing new concepts and working through examples together. We finish the session with practice exercises to solidify understanding. I provide personalized assignments for further practice and always make time for questions, whether during the lesson or in between.
I have a strong background in mathematics, having excelled in the IB program with a 7/7 in Mathematics: Applications and Interpretations. Currently, I’m pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Southampton, where I further develop my mathematical knowledge in areas like calculus, algebra, and physics. I’ve also competed in several math competitions, including JISMO, which has further honed my problem-solving abilities.
Above all, I strive to make my lessons enjoyable. My goal is not only to help students succeed academically but also to ignite a genuine interest in mathematics. I believe that every student has the potential to excel, and I am committed to helping them unlock their full capabilities.
