Penny Kristensen

My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs, learning style and academic goals. Before starting tuition, I like to identify areas of strength and topics that need improvement so that sessions can be focused and productive.

A typical lesson combines clear explanations of key concepts with interactive discussion, worked examples and exam-style practice questions. I believe students learn best when they actively engage with the material, so I encourage questions throughout and regularly check understanding rather than simply delivering information.

For GCSE Biology, I focus on building a strong understanding of the specification while helping students develop the exam techniques needed to apply their knowledge effectively. For GCSE and A-level Psychology, I help students understand psychological theories, studies and research methods, while also teaching them how to structure high-scoring exam answers.

I provide support with revision planning, exam preparation and confidence building, as well as helping students develop effective study skills that will benefit them beyond a single subject. After lessons, I can provide additional practice questions, revision materials and feedback where appropriate.

As a current First-Class Psychology and Criminology student at Royal Holloway, University of London, and an experienced GCSE Biology tutor, I understand both the academic content and the challenges students face when preparing for exams. My aim is to create a friendly, supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing confidence and reaching their full potential.

Beyond just tutoring these subjects, I would love to be able to inspire others and potentially share my passion for both psychology and biology with younger individuals who are still deciding what they wish to study at more advanced levels.
