I have a background in counselling, having completed the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills SCQF Level 8. I have a degree in journalism, HNC in graphic design, HNC drama, PgCert in screenwriting; and began a Masters in Pluralistic Counselling but, sadly, had to withdraw from this owing to ill health.
I've brought up two children on my own and they're now in their 20s. They've had their own separate challenges in life, including abuse, mental ill health and issues dealing with their own neurodiversity.
I've struggled through some mental health issues of my own, got through bereavement and I'm used to dealing with the benefits / welfare system. I discovered I have ADHD and have had to learn strategies to help me manage the chaos that is my brain! Executive dysfunction was my life up until now. I like to think creatively and try different things and will always go out of my way to help people that need my help. I loathe ignorance, intolerance and bigotry but I'm happy to debate the issues of the day with people who are open minded and willing to listen. I've been told I have a warm and nurturing personality and would just like to be everyone's mum!
As a troubleshooter throughout my life, and having worked in customer care / guest relations (as well as motherhood), I'm used to finding solutions to every problem and I'm tenacious and resilient. I'm a great advocate of humour / fun as I believe we all need a bit of that.
