I prefer face-to-face tutoring (as opposed to online) because I feel it is better for the student.

I usually start by establishing your baseline level of competence and then home in topics that we can work on together to improve your competence and confidence in tackling each topic.

The focus of the sessions is working through examples of questions that you are likely to get in your exams. and helping you to pick the right approach to each type of question.

My teaching style will hopefully complement how you have been taught at school rather than repeating exactly the same methods, which may be part of the reason why you are struggling with this subject and are looking into tutoring as an improvement option.

I have successfully helped many students to pass their GCSE maths over the last few years, even some who were not very confident of success. I also took part in the National Tutoring Program in 2021 and 2022 in 2 local schools.

I worked as a maths and science tutor in London after graduating from Imperial College, London in Chemical Engineering in 1983 before I started working for Rolls-Royce in 1984. I worked there for 33 years initially as an engineer carrying out mathematical modelling work, then as a project engineer and then as a manager. I took early retirement in 2016 and since then I have enjoyed a variety of jobs including tutoring, exam invigilation and GP training.

My hobbies are am-dram, skiing and cricket.
