My lessons are relaxed, supportive, and fully tailored to each learner’s pace, interests, and goals. Sessions are structured but flexible, typically starting with a short introduction or demonstration before moving into guided practice and independent creative exploration. I teach across a range of media including drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media, encouraging experimentation and personal expression alongside skill development.

Lessons are designed to build confidence step by step, whether you are a complete beginner or looking to develop existing skills further. I focus on creating a calm, encouraging environment where learners feel comfortable trying new techniques, making mistakes, and developing their own creative style.

I have experience working in creative and supportive roles with a range of groups, including dementia care residents, adults with mild mental health needs, and adults with learning and physical disabilities. This has strengthened my ability to adapt my teaching approach to individual needs and create inclusive, engaging sessions.

1. Welcome & Introduction
2. Warm-Up Exercise
3. Tutor Demonstration
4. Guided Practice
5. Independent Development
6. Reflection

Alongside practical making and experimentation, I also support learners with developing their wider creative process and thinking skills, depending on their goals and needs.

This includes:

• Planning a drawing properly – breaking ideas down, composition planning, and developing a clear starting point before beginning work.
• Sketching and visual development – using thumbnails, quick studies, and layering ideas to refine compositions.
• Mind mapping and idea generation – exploring themes, linking concepts, and expanding creative direction in a structured way.
• Artist research and analysis – looking at key artists, understanding their work, and learning how to respond to it critically and creatively.
• Using artist references effectively – learning how to take inspiration without copying, and adapting style elements into personal work.
• Essay and written support (if needed) – helping structure ideas, explain artistic intent, and develop visual analysis skills.
• Experimenting with different media – exploring drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media to find what best suits each learner’s ideas and style.

I hope we can get to know each other and build a creative portfolio together, whether for personal enjoyment or educational development.
