Structure of Sessions.

01: Check-in
We start by talking through what's on your mind, academically and personally. As the personal and academic intersect.

02: Focus
We agree a clear goal for the session together, so you always leave with something concrete
03: Explore
Discussion-led learning. I ask engaging questions rather than just lecture, so you build real understanding and you learn through doing.

04: Apply
We practice the key skill together: drafting, planning, working through problems in real time
05: Reflect
A short debrief, what clicked, what to revisit, and what to try before next time.

I combine clinical training in CBT with teaching experience, so I notice when anxiety, perfectionism, or self-doubt are getting in the way and I know how to coach for success.
I'm neurodiversity-affirming by training and design: sessions adapt to how you process information best, not a one-size-fits-all template.
For academic subjects, we focus on transferable skills, how to build an argument, interrogate a source, structure a response, rather than rote answers.
For career coaching, I draw on years of supporting students and professionals through applications, transitions, and confidence challenges at a senior level.

Owen’s deliberate, thoughtful tutoring approach helped me develop stronger essay-writing skills. I tended to feel “stuck” with a blank page, and he coached me on how to focus in on a specific, well-supported thesis from the beginning of a project. He responded well to my specific learning style and needs, adapting support and style to meet me where I started.

Owen is excellent. Whenever I have a session with Owen, I always move forwards in a new way. It's always comfortable talking to Owen. He is very respectful and kind and encouraging and makes my next steps much clearer. Owen can see my strengths and weaknesses and has an overall sense of my potential. This is really helpful as I can easily forget this when I struggle with making sense in my writing. I was quite lost before I started working with Owen. Now I am feeling that my academic goals are much more possible and less of a headache.
