Hi there!
I'm Oscar, and having just finished school, I am looking to teach Tuba and Singing to a range of different students. Although I don't have any formal experience as a tutor, I have achieved diplomas in both Singing and Tuba as well as grade 8 distinctions in both.
I have played the tuba in orchestras, brass bands and in solo concerts, playing works by Marcello, Vaughan Williams, Gregson and Hindemith to name a few. I sung professionally in Sherborne Abbey Choir for 7 years, as both a bass and chorister, where I learnt advanced sightreading and developed a deep love for music there. In addition to this, I have sung in chamber choirs, barbershop groups and solo concerts, learning an extensive repertoire, ranging from renaissance madrigals to jazz standards. Furthermore, starting this year I will be taking up a choral scholarship at Worcester College Oxford (studying at St Catherine's Oxford). I have a strong grasp of different vocal/instrumental techniques and exercises, and am dedicated to teaching in a way that incorporates these elements into every lesson.
Academically, I have an advanced understanding of music theory, having attained Grade 5 Music Theory and achieved an A* in A Level Music. I am an experienced composer and was selected for a Guildhall Summer Composition course, and would be happy to teach composition using notation software like Sibelius.
Music is my passion, and helping to spread my enthusiasm for performance (and practice!) to students would ultimately be the most important part of my lessons.
