From my experience as a Mathematics student and mentoring younger students in my school, I have always found the most effective way of learning is to perform examples with the student, explaining reasoning and content alongside and then letting the student try for themselves. If there are any remaining issues (small or large) we can try again with patience until the student understands.
All lessons will take place online, over Zoom and beforehand I will ask each student a particular topic they are struggling with or want help with, so I can prepare questions and examples to work through on an online whiteboard. The student will also have access to the online whiteboard, so I can see their answers and provide immediate feedback. Also so I can see their thought process and can then pin point the exact places in which they may need help.
I believe learning should be a fun and enjoyable experience for students, as that is what can really encourage a student to place all their efforts in and grow to love the subject.
