My lessons are structured, focused, and designed for students who are struggling or falling behind in GCSE Maths and need a more direct approach than general tutoring. This works particularly well for students who feel overwhelmed, unsure where to start, or stuck despite putting in effort.
I usually begin by identifying what is actually causing the difficulty. This might be gaps in core knowledge, uncertainty about how to approach exam questions, or habits such as rushing and guessing. Once this is clear, lessons follow a simple and consistent structure so students know exactly what they are working on and why.
Sessions are practical and active. We work through GCSE-style questions together, break them down step by step, and practise applying the same methods independently. A key focus is on slowing things down and setting work out clearly, as this is often where marks are lost. I make sure students understand not just the answer, but how to approach similar questions again with confidence.
I aim to create a calm and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions without pressure, while still keeping lessons purposeful and focused. Over time, students tend to become more confident, more organised in their thinking, and more consistent in their results because Maths starts to feel manageable rather than confusing.
This approach is most effective for Year 10–11 students who are behind, have lost confidence, or feel under pressure as exams approach.
