My lessons are structured, exam-focused, and tailored to the student's specific exam board and goals. Sessions are typically 60 minutes and combine content review with active practice to build both knowledge and technique.
I will focus on:
- Clear understanding of core theories and studies, breaking complex concepts into manageable explanations.
- Exam technique, e.g., how to interpret command words, structure and 16-mark (etc.) answers, and maximise AO1/AO2/AO3 marks.
- Essay writing skills to build clear argument structure, effective evaluation, and strong conclusions.
- Research method & statistics; simplifying difficult topics and practising application questions.
- Active recall and retrieval practice (short quizzes, blurting, and timed questions to strengthen memory and confidence).
- Mark scheme training to learn how examiners award marks and how to write answers that meet criteria.
I provide detailed feedback and model answers so you can see exactly how to improve. Where helpful, we will complete timed exam practice to build speed and accuracy under pressure.
As a psychology undergraduate currently on a research placement, I bring experience in reading and evaluating academic research, which helps students develop strong critical thinking skills - especially for higher-mark evaluation questions.
Lessons are supportive, interactive, and adapted to the student's strengths and areas for improvement.
