I currently tutor English to an 8-year-old. I used a task-based approach, selecting teaching content on the basis of the student's needs and interests and only speak in English to ensure they're having to think and react in English. I incorporate a grammar point, some vocabulary learning and pronunciation practice into each lesson, using visuals and learning objectives to make the lessons engaging. I regularly review progress with students, to identify tailored content for future lessons. I have taught Spanish to primary school children using games and songs. I have delivered conversation classes to an adult learner of English as foreign language, using articles and discussion themes to broaden their vocabulary and confidence at speaking English. Having learnt Spanish, French and Italian at school, I'm familiar with the challenges and joys of learning a new language and like to help people establish good foundations for expanding their knowledge and confidence in the target language. My lessons usually follow the format of introducing a lesson theme, integrating grammar and vocabulary points, reading a piece of text and then recapping knowledge from the lesson at the end.
