The lessons will be conducted using either Microsoft Teams of Zoom depending on the preference of the student. I use Sibelius, an interactive music notation platform that can be shared with the students through my screen to explore different aspects of music theory. This also enables me to use a MIDI piano function meaning that students can see the movement of my hands on the piano keyboard while alongside the notation. This is enhanced by using multiple cameras so students can see my hands move over piano keys / guitar neck from multiple angles (using OBS software). This is just one of a few different options students have in learning music interactively online however the lessons will be tailored to the resources and the needs of each of the students individually.

I have a vast collection of sheet music and learning books that can be made available to students online so that they can practice using their laptop or tablet at home in between lessons. There will also be opportunities to listen to music and analyse the structure and the performances.

If you are a student interested in essay writing, GCSE or A Level preparation or University applications then the lessons will adopt more of a lecture / seminar style where we will look at good and bad examples of work, discuss ways of thinking about music and work through different elements and approaches to music theory that will enable you to flourish during your next stage. I have all the materials from my degree at the University of Oxford

All you need is a laptop or a tablet an access to the instrument you are interested in learning and I can create a fantastic interactive and engaging platform to develop your confidence and skills.

Oli is a fantastic tutor. Not only is he extremely skilled and knowledgeable, he communicates that in such a clear, supportive and patient way. As a piano teacher and A Level/GCSE music teacher, he sets his students up for success at university and beyond. Very highly recommended!

Oliver was excellent at helping me approach and develop my passion for songwriting, and in addition greatly improved my technique on the piano. He is professional and hard working, and tailors his teaching to the individual based on their goals and needs.
