My main teaching approaches are Communicative Approach, Direct Approach and Comprehension Approach for they have one thing in common- language can be taught to anyone who wants to learn. The Communicative Approach is a learner-centred approach that gives me the autonomy to adapt authentic materials to the suitability of my learners. It also encourages a fun-filled classroom atmosphere where learners are actively engaged in games, despite learning the target language simultaneously. With this, learning becomes fun!
At some point as well, I ensure that I allow my students to correct themselves when they make mistakes. This is a style that I learnt from the Direct Approach.
Communicative Approach taught me how to make use of role reversal in the classroom. It is a situation where I sit and allow my learners to lead the lesson. A student steps forward and his peers learn from him.
Even though I don't really identify myself with the Grammar-Translation Approach and the Reading Approach, they still taught me some things like the use of fill in the blanks and guided reading, respectively.
