My lessons are friendly, practical and focused on helping students genuinely understand Maths rather than simply memorising answers. I know that Maths can sometimes feel difficult or frustrating, so I try to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and trying again.
At the beginning of a lesson, I usually spend a little time finding out what the student already understands and identifying the areas they need the most help with. I then explain the topic clearly, breaking difficult ideas into smaller and easier steps. I use worked examples and encourage students to participate rather than just listen. Once they understand the method, we practise questions together before I give them the opportunity to try questions independently.
I adapt my lessons according to each student's ability, learning style and goals. Some students may need help building their confidence with basic Maths skills, while others may want support with GCSE topics, exam questions or preparation for an upcoming test. I am happy to adjust the pace of the lesson depending on the student's needs.
My experience includes teaching and supporting learners with different abilities and backgrounds. I have a degree in Mathematics, a Master's degree in Mathematics and several years of teaching and learning-support experience. This has helped me understand that students learn differently and that patience and clear communication are very important.
Online lessons will be interactive, with plenty of opportunities for students to ask questions and work through problems with me. I will also point out common mistakes and show students how to approach questions logically.
Most importantly, I want students to leave each lesson feeling more confident than when they started. My aim is not only to help students get the correct answer, but to help them understand how and why they got there.
