My lessons are interactive and student- centered, I have been using this method for over five years of teaching English as foreign language. My students work in groups to help one another. I employ presentations, role modeling and the use of audio-visual materials to engage students.
Students are prepared for projects and they are delivered every week on any of the topics treated in the week. There are four major language skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking. These four areas will be treated one after the other with different approach and techniques.
For instance, in the speaking skills, learners will be exposed to the criteria needed. Topics will be highlighted and the criteria will be considered under this: Coherence and Cohesion, lexical resource, content, grammatical accuracy.
Furthermore, learners will be exposed to some cohesive devices, transition words, connectors and linking words. They will be taught how to use them appropriately. For example, words that show same direction of a sentence : and, so, thus, therefore, in addition, moreover etc. There are also words that show opposite direction of a statement: yet, but, however, despite, although, etc. These will be used in a sentence to see the different ways the words can be used. Another very important aspect is the lexical resource( Vocabulary). A good learner of English must learn the words in the language. Learners will identify some words listed on the board and they will be asked to show the relationship between them. Root words and word family will be discussed after. Learners will provide more word families and their root with the aid of a dictionary where necessary.
