Hello and welcome! I’m Alfie, a friendly and experienced English tutor based in London/Istanbul. Over the past 16 years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with learners from a wide range of backgrounds from complete beginners taking their very first steps in English to advanced speakers aiming to refine their fluency. Helping people gain confidence and discover their own voice in English is truly what I love most about teaching.

My lessons are lively, practical and entirely tailored to your needs. We’ll focus on the areas that matter most to you, whether that’s grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, exam preparation, business communication or everyday conversation. I use a blend of clear explanations, interactive activities and real-life examples to make learning both effective and enjoyable. You won’t just memorise rules, you’ll actively practise English in meaningful contexts such as role-plays, debates, presentations and authentic day-to-day scenarios.

I draw on a wide range of materials (articles, videos, podcasts, news stories and British cultural insights) to keep lessons fresh, engaging and relevant. Each lesson is planned with patience and care, and I create a supportive environment where mistakes are welcomed as part of the learning process. You’ll receive constructive feedback, personalised tips and practice ideas to help you progress between sessions.

I bring a multicultural perspective to my teaching, having lived, studied and worked in different countries. This international experience allows me to understand and respect the unique challenges learners face, while also enriching lessons with cross-cultural insights.
