Our First Session: The Diagnostic & Strategy Plan
Your journey begins with a comprehensive 60-minute diagnostic session. This is our foundation for success.
Goal Setting: We will discuss your target score, your deadline, and your previous experiences with the IELTS.
Skill Assessment: We will conduct a mini-mock test covering all four modules. This is not about getting a perfect score; it's about identifying your current strengths and, more importantly, your specific areas for improvement.
Personalised Roadmap: By the end of this first session, you will receive a customised study plan. This plan will outline the key skills we need to focus on, the lesson structure, and the milestones we will aim for.
A Typical Lesson: Format, Content, and Dynamics
Each 60-minute lesson is interactive, focused, and designed for maximum impact.
Lesson Format:
Review & Warm-up (10 mins): We start by reviewing your homework and discussing any questions you have. This ensures we build on our progress.
Skill Focus (30 mins): We dive deep into a specific skill from your personalised plan. This is the core of the lesson where we learn and apply new techniques.
Guided Practice (15 mins): You will immediately apply what we've learned through targeted exercises. I provide real-time feedback and correction.
Action Plan (5 mins): We conclude by summarising the key takeaways and setting clear, actionable homework for the next session.
Lesson Content & Dynamics:
Writing: We will deconstruct essay prompts (Task 1 and Task 2), master effective structures for high-scoring essays, and work on elevating your vocabulary and grammatical range. You will learn precisely what examiners are looking for.
Speaking: Our sessions will feel like realistic mock interviews. We focus on building your fluency, coherence, pronunciation, and confidence. I provide instant, constructive feedback to help you sound more natural and organised.
Reading & Listening: Instead of just taking tests, I will teach you proven techniques like skimming, scanning, predicting answers, and identifying keywords and paraphrasing. You will learn to manage your time effectively and avoid common traps.
