My approach to teaching is friendly, encouraging, patient and fun. Learning an instrument is an experimental process, different for everyone, and therefore I believe in an individualised approach, seeking to yield the best response from each individual pupil, no matter their age or current standard. I believe lessons should be fun, imaginative and rewarding.

I teach undergraduate modules in the music department at the University of York. I am also an approved tutor for York Music Hub with an enhanced DBS check and teach violin at the York Music Centre and Ralph Butterfield Primary School every week. I also direct the National Centre for Early Music's early music youth ensembles: the intermediate and senior Minster Minstrels. Currently, I have 14 additional private students aged 4 to adult and from beginners to post grade 8. Last summer, I also taught on the conservatoire level International School of Improvisation and I teach undergraduate music modules at the University of York. I have also greatly enjoyed providing outreach teaching for secondary school pupils as part of the University of York’s YESS, YorJourney, Shine and Roots to Success programmes.
I really enjoy teaching at all levels and seeing students grow in confidence, creativity and ability.
